The Baritone Horn is a low-pitched, valved brass instrument in Bb (one octave below the Bb trumpet), sounding similar to a trombone and most commonly played in brass bands. Its tonal range is the same as a Baritone singing voice, typically emulating the depth and resonance of great operatic male arias.
It is lower pitched than the tenor horn and there are two of them in a brass band. Usually they play accompaniment parts but sometimes they take a melodic role. It is pitched the same as the euphonium but its bore is narrower, meaning it doesn't sound quite as mellow.
All models in the Odyssey range of high quality brass band and orchestral instruments have been meticulously designed down to the finest details by Peter Pollard. Its hardly surprising that, with over 50 years experience and having listened to the wants of countless high profile musicians, this master craftsman is one of the most sought after custom brass and woodwind builders in the world.
Featuring a gorgeous, gleaming silver plated brass body, offset with polished brass gold lacquered valve caps, water keys and tuning slide ends, the exquisite Odyssey Premiere 'Bb' Baritone Horn is luxurious in every detail, within sculpted design, masterful technology and performs as graceful as it looks.
With its generous 11.8"/300mm diameter bell the Odyssey Premiere 'Bb' Baritone Horn is ideally suited as one of the principal instruments within brass bands and military bands, offering superb projection, sonic flexibility and agility.
The Odyssey Premiere 'Bb' Baritone Horn is a popular choice with solo players.
Luxurious appointments also include a Denis Wick mouthpiece, regarded by musicians as arguably the worlds finest, hand-built to an extremely high standard, with meticulous attention paid to the mouthpiece rim for comfort and consistency.
Players from students to serious, professional musicians have commented on the excellent response and the high quality materials chosen in the construction of this beautifully built instrument.
As a company producing some of the worlds finest brasswind instruments, Odyssey recognise the fact that protection whilst travelling with a delicate instrument is paramount. To ensure players can maintain a high standard with this instrument, Odyssey has included gloves and a cleaning cloth, whilst a plush lined, Zero-gravity backpack hard foam, canvas covered case with shoulder straps takes all the worry out of commuting with such a delicate instrument.
